Our Team

With over 30 years experience in the discipline of Mathematics, Vivien began her career at age of 25 as an Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). She specialised as a lecturer and tutor in the field of Statistics and Econometrics at UNSW as well as teaching at the University of Sydney (USYD).

During her time at UNSW & USYD, Vivien:

• was a research assistant for Professor Ron Bewely, Director of BEFG (Business Econometrics and Forecasting Group) for a number of research projects (UNSW);
• lectured and tutored in both Quantitative Methods A (QMA) and Quantitative Methods B (QMB), currently known as Quantitative Analysis for Business & Economics (ECON1202) and ECON1203 Business and Economic Statistics (1203) respectively (UNSW);
• obtained extensive marking experience of econometrics final exam papers for QMA & QMB (UNSW); and
• conducted tutorials and workshops in Econometrics 1 & 2 (USYD).

In 2014, Vivien was a research assistant employed to advise editors in the production of the 4th edition of Basic Business Statistics (Berenson text). This text is currently widely used, in particular for the Masters of Commerce course, Quantitative Methods for Business (COMM5005) at UNSW.

Vivien recently lectured and produced all online teaching materials and videos for Masters of Commerce Data Analytics (UNSW), specialising in the Quantitative Data Analysis components which are currently used in the course.

Vivien founder of Maths with Mates, is our head tutor in senior mathematics and tertiary tuition, co-writer and publisher of all Maths with Mates teaching materials.

Zoe has over 10 years’ experience in the field of Mathematics Tuition. Originally working in the field of Law after completing her Bachelor of Business, with a major in Finance and Business Law, Zoe decided to leave this field and follow her passion of teaching and learning. Soon after Zoe joined Vivien and supported her local community by teaching students in the field of Mathematics. In 2016 Zoe supported Vivien in opening Maths with Mates and has successfully supported over 200 students build their passion and confidence in Mathematics.

Throughout this time, Zoe has become the driving force in ensuring Maths with Mates continues to follow our mission of ensuring we guide, support and encourage 21st century learnings to become the best possible learner they can be. With Maths with Mates continually growing and supporting our local students and communities, Zoe has ensured each and every one of our students completes their time at Maths with Mates being a better version of themselves.

Dean is a dynamic member of our team and an outstanding teacher. Dean is a full time Mathematics teacher who has been working within the education system in NSW since 2014. During his time as a teacher, Dean has excelled in his many roles especially as Mathematics Coordinator for his school. Dean joined the Maths with Mates team in 2019 and with his educational leadership and commitment to support Maths with Mates we are leading the way for academic excellence by having a strong knowledge of contemporary approaches to pedagogy, including the nature of assessment and differentiated learning.

With Dean’s experience of the classroom environment and with the capability to empower students to be independent and creative thinkers, we at Maths with Mates know our group tutorials are in the best of hands.

Dean is also a co-writer and publisher of all Maths with Mates teaching materials.
